Also, my lovely wife has decided that I started learning to crochet with too hard a pattern. Apparently I don't even know what I don't know. So I am switching to a beginner granny square pattern, and getting personal instruction on how to do it right. First lesson: don't try to make it so tight! Hopefully, I will soon be able to crank out a granny square quickly, and can think about what to make with them (an afghan, or maybe a scarf).

If your tension is too tight also try a larger hook.
Oh swooze, he had a deathgrip on the hook and was pulling the thread so tight it was screaming for mercy! Lol we had already moved to a hook two sizes larger. He improved right away when I assured him that it was not a contest of strength.

he will learn, i tried to teach grand daughter and she gave up
Too bad the installation caused some delays on your tatting, but I’m sure it was for the best. Anyway, how is the furnace doing nowadays? I hope it has been performing well, so far. Thanks for sharing that, Susan! All the best to you!
